Scholarships

Beginning in 2007, the George & Enid Brooks Foundation has awarded several $1000 scholarships to Paterson, NJ high school seniors who were actively involved in their churches, performed community service and intended to serve their communities upon graduation from college. Some of our past scholarship recipients are pictured below.

How To Apply For A Scholarship

Scholarship applications are open to high school seniors living in or attending high school or church in Paterson, NJ. Interested high school seniors should contact the George & Enid Brooks Foundation to confirm scholarship availability.

Our Recent Scholarship Recipients

Sarah-Kay Russell, 2019

Sarah-Kay Russell graduated first in the Class of 2019 from Rosa Parks High School in Paterson, NJ.  She was the Senior Class President, as well as the Valedictorian of her graduating class.  Sarah-Kay is a member of the National Honor Society, participated in the Rosa Parks H.S. Touring Choir, and participated in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership organization.  Sarah-Kay attends the Paterson Church of God, where she has volunteered for over 100+ hours per year throughout high school, leading Children’s Ministry, leading Praise & Worship, and volunteering in the Food Pantry. She also volunteered at the Food Bank of NJ throughout her 4 years of high school.  Sarah-Kay will be attending New Jersey City University, where she will be majoring in Biology.  Sarah-Kay’s goal is to devote her life to leadership, service, and innovation.

Elizabeth Estrella, 2019

Elizabeth Estrella graduated with honors from the Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism Academy at Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ.  She is a member of the National Honor Society.  Elizabeth has worked for over 400 hours fundraising for a variety of causes, including the Cancer Foundation, the Leukemia Foundation, and the Forever Smile Foundation.  She volunteered as an aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and this experience inspired her to dream of pursuing a career in Nursing.  Elizabeth has served her church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, as an altar server for the past 3 years, and is currently the head altar server.  Elizabeth will be attending Felician University in the fall, majoring in Nursing.  After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she plans to continue her studies to become a Nurse Practitioner so that she can provide comfort and effective and compassionate care to those patients with whom she comes in contact.
