Since 2007, the George & Enid Brooks Foundation has proudly awarded numerous $1000 scholarships to Paterson, NJ high school seniors. These scholarships recognize students who demonstrate active involvement in their churches, engage in community service, and aspire to serve their communities post-college. How To Apply For A Scholarship
Scholarship applications are open to high school seniors living in or attending high school or church in Paterson, NJ. Interested high school seniors should contact the George & Enid Brooks Foundation to confirm scholarship availability.

Our Recent Scholarship Recipients
Teresa Paulino, 2024
Teresa graduated from Paterson STEAM High School in Paterson, NJ. She attends Christian Mission John 3:16 Church in Passaic, NJ. Teresa is very active in many church ministries, including teaching Sunday School and leading the Children’s Dance Ministry. Her pastor reported that Teresa is a strong leader and helps with everything asked of her--she puts as much passion into cleaning the church as she does into teaching Sunday School. Teresa has also served her community by feeding the homeless, delivering food to people, maintaining a memorial garden at her school, and walking in a Breast Cancer walkathon and a March of Dimes walkathon. Teresa currently attends William Paterson University where she is majoring in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education.
Taryn McNeil, 2024
Taryn graduated from International High School in Paterson, NJ. She attends Seminary Baptist Church, where she has served in leadership positions in several different ministries over the past 10 years, starting by serving as an Usher and a member of the Welcome Committee at the age of 8. Taryn is passionate about community service, and is motivated by Luke 6:38: “Give and it shall be given unto you.” After her family’s house fire, Taryn experienced first-hand the blessing of being assisted by her church community. She is now paying it forward by serving in the Paterson Healing Collective, a local non-profit that provides support and intervention for survivors of violence. She has also collected and distributed food for the homeless in Paterson. Taryn currently attends Montclair State University where she will be studying to be a veterinarian.
Our Past Scholarship Recipients
Nia Reaves, 2022
Nia Reaves is a 2022 graduate of Passaic County Technical Institute, where she majored in Criminal Justice. She has attended the Paterson New Testament Church of God all her life. In addition to being actively involved in helping to lead Girls Ministries at her church, Nia has spent a lot of her time volunteering with children in the community at the Boys & Girls Club, serving as a swimming instructor there. She also volunteered for many hours at a local animal shelter. Nia has a very strong sense of social justice and was deeply involved in following the George Floyd case and the Black Lives Matter movement. She plans to do what she can to bring justice to those in the minority and low-income communities who do not have a voice, and to advocate for them through majoring in Criminal Justice when she attends college at Hampton University.
Nia Williams, 2023
Nia Williams born in February of 2005 in Paterson, NJ is a proud graduate of Rosa L. Parks School of Fine and Performing Arts. Nia has always been a proud member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church where she serves in multiple ministries never forgetting to give her all in everything she does. Whether it be her teachers, guidance counselor, or Pastor, Nia has received numerous accolades regarding her work ethic, her love for people, for giving to others as well as providing a listening ear to those who need. Nia has been found to carry qualities of a born leader whether it is through mentoring, serving others while never letting go of her morals and her faith. After graduating, High School Nia will attend Hampton University.

Nona Fulmore-Harris, 2022
Nona Fulmore-Harris is a 2022 graduate of the Diana C. Lobosca STEM Academy at Passaic County Technical and Vocational High School. She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she has been actively involved in Youth Choir, Praise Dancing, and Teen Ministry, among other ministries. Nona was a member of the Paterson Youth Council, through which she engaged with the community in volunteer activities including serving at Eva's Village Soup Kitchen, participating in environmental projects that tested lead in the city of Paterson, working on local, state and federal elections, and helping to paint a mural in Paterson. She also volunteered for many hours in the N.J. Reentry Corp. Program. Nona is a talented musician and athlete, and has a specific passion for technology. She plans to create and innovate in the field of Artificical Intelligence and Technology through the Governor's STEM Scholars Program. She will be studying at New Jersey Institute of Technology.
Savannah Vargas, 2020
Savannah Vargas graduated from the School of Business, Technology, Marketing and Finance at Kennedy High School in Paterson, NJ. She is currently attending Monmouth University majoring in International Marketing.
Naomi Engelhard, 2020
Naomi Engelhard is a 2020 graduate of Eastern Christian High School. She has attended Madison Ave. Christian Reformed Church in Paterson all her life, and has spent many hours over the years volunteering at the church’s Food Pantry, fixing and cleaning the church on church work days, and helping to lead in Youth Worship and Kayak Kamp. In high school, Naomi served the community through volunteering at Holland Christian Health Care Center and at Bethany Christian Services, and served in Guatemala and Tanzania on missions trips.

Naomi will be majoring in Psychology at Montclair State University, and plans to use her degree to counsel adopted children and help them explore their identities, especially when adopted into multiracial families.
Sarah-Kay, 2019
Sarah-Kay Russell graduated first in the Class of 2019 from Rosa Parks High School in Paterson, NJ. She was the Senior Class President, as well as the Valedictorian of her graduating class. Sarah-Kay is a member of the National Honor Society, participated in the Rosa Parks H.S. Touring Choir, and participated in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership organization. Sarah-Kay attends the Paterson Church of God, where she has volunteered for over 100+ hours per year throughout high school, leading Children’s Ministry, leading Praise & Worship, and volunteering in the Food Pantry. She also volunteered at the Food Bank of NJ throughout her 4 years of high school. Sarah-Kay will be attending New Jersey City University, where she will be majoring in Biology. Elizabeth Estrella, 2019
Elizabeth Estrella graduated with honors from the Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Tourism Academy at Eastside High School in Paterson, NJ. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Elizabeth has worked for over 400 hours fundraising for a variety of causes, including the Cancer Foundation, the Leukemia Foundation, and the Forever Smile Foundation. She volunteered as an aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital, and this experience inspired her to dream of pursuing a career in Nursing. Elizabeth has served her church, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, as an altar server for the past 3 years, and is currently the head altar server. Elizabeth will be attending Felician University in the fall, majoring in Nursing. After earning her Bachelor’s degree, she plans to continue her studies to become a Nurse Practitioner so that she can provide comfort and effective and compassionate care to those patients with whom she comes in contact.

D’Adrianna earned a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Social Sciences from William Paterson University in 2015. She is employed as a Case Management Analyst.

Tiffany earned a Bachelors in Business Administration from Seton Hall University in 2011, and a Masters in Public Administration from Rutgers University in 2017.
